Tornado Relief Week
The week of June 13 - 17, the Charlton Sewing Center will be offering workshops throughout the week for a free will donation from the emergency supply list posted by Local #25 and the firefighters in the area.
Here is the final list of "classes" and "fees".

Embroidery Hints by Melinda Giustina - Melinda has taken numerous classes on stabilizers and hooping and will share these pointers in an informal demo.

Invisible Zippers - How and why - Denise Carlson from the American Sewing Guild will demo the invisible zipper and the necessary foot for proper installation. FEE - 2 flashlights

The Shape Cut Guide from June Tailor. Cut strips quickly and accurately with this wonderfully portable ruler. Perfect for log cabin, split rail fence or any quick strips. FEE 2 - flashlights

Drop in for Fun With Feet Mary Lee will have a ruffler, free motion couching foot and the roller foot - all by Bernina - and she will be encouraging you to try them out. If you missed the Bernina workshops by their educators, you won't want to miss this opportunity! FEE- Case of water

Thread Painting 101 - Cathy Racine will have machines set up with a wonderful array of threads for you to explore and create texture with. The Bernina 830 will be featured because of its huge sewing surface. A great opportunity to try this machine out! FEE - 2 packages of strong rope (not clothesline)

Free Motion Anything - Quilting or 3D Appliqué machine. We will have a machine set up next to her for you to try your hand at this free falling form of art. FEE - First Aid Kit
Our wonderful friend Holice Turnbow is offering the following 2 workshops
Friday, June 17 from 2 - 3:00. Holice is giving his Readers Digest Version of Bindings as can be seen on his TV presentation. He will include tips of the trade not included in the previously offered workshop on binding. What an opportunity!!! FEE Gift cards from CVS or Walgreens
Saturday, June 18 9:30 - 12:00 - Jelly Roll Quilt Race
Holice Turnbow will be hosting the Amazing Jelly Roll Race Contest. Arrive at Charlton Sewing Center at 9:30 to prep yourself for the race of a quiters lifetime! You will receive 160 inches of jelly roll strips, (there will be enough for 8 teams) a machine will be threaded up and ready to fly, scissors are sharpened, Holice will give the istructions and off you go! Holice suggests that there be at least two on a team (one to sew and one to feed the fabric and cut) plus a possible cheer leader. The completed quilts will be donated to the relief effort and the winning quilt will have an anonamous $50 donation made in their name to the relief effort. ENTRANCE FEE (TO BE ANNOUNCED SO THAT IF NEW NEEDS ARISE WE CAN RESPOND)
Saturday, June 18 – 12:30 – 2:30 - Creating a Web Site for Your Business
A web site is an effective and efficient way to get the word out about your business. Learn the basics about domain names; web hosting, developing content and getting your web site found.
If time permits, you will be walked through the steps to create a web site using Wordpress.
This session will also include one attendee’s business being given a free Wordpress Web Site (up to five pages, no e-commerce), web hosting for six months and a free domain name for one year.
